Best Time to Visit Prague: Fairy-Tale City in Every Season (2025)
The best time to visit Prague is May to June or September — comfortable at 18–24°C, manageable crowds, and the city at its most beautiful before or after summer peak.
Prague is stunning year-round — but May to June (18–24°C, long evenings, beer garden season) and September to October (golden light, smaller crowds than August, affordable rates) offer the best experience. December brings arguably Europe's finest Christmas markets.

Prague Crowds: What to Expect
- •Charles Bridge: tourist-free only 5–7am in summer — go at dawn for the most photographed view without crowds
- •Prague Castle: book timed entry online to skip queues; ticket C (gardens + exterior) is free; circuit tickets from CZK 250
- •Old Town Astronomical Clock: crowds gather for the hourly show (9am–9pm) — arrive 5 min early for a front-row spot
- •Wenceslas Square: always walkable; best in morning for the weekend farmers market at the top of the square
Prague's most underrated neighbourhood: Vinohrady and Žižkov (20 minutes' walk from Old Town) have excellent local restaurants, craft beer bars, and almost no tourists. The Žižkov TV Tower (CZK 250 observation deck) offers the best city panorama and has Crawling Babies sculptures by David Černý on its exterior.
常见问题
Is Prague expensive?
No — Prague is one of Europe's best-value city breaks. Quality hostel beds from €15/night, Czech craft beer from €1.80 per 500ml, a full lunch menu for €6–9. Even mid-range restaurant meals rarely exceed €20 per person. Prague is substantially cheaper than Vienna, Munich, or Paris for equivalent quality.
Is it safe to walk Prague at night?
Yes — Prague is one of Europe's safer cities for walking at night. The main concern is pickpockets on Charles Bridge and in bars, and tourist scams around unlicensed exchanges and strip clubs in Wenceslas Square. Stick to lit areas in the Old Town and use Bolt for late-night trips back to outlying hotels.
